Why work with me?
A successful coach
I have coached many couples to high levels and they've been Finalists and Grand Finalists in major competitions as well as holding many Trophies.
Effective quickly
I am particularly expert in spotting small changes that will make major differences if applied throughout your dancing.
Stand out choreography
I enjoy making interesting choreography that helps you stand out from others.
Noticeable presentation
I give advice on dress, hairstyle and make-up.
Anyone can compete!
Anyone at any level can compete and help improve their dancing while having fun! There are suitable competitions for all. I have students from the youngest age to the older age groups who compete. Some compete in Open competitions, others iin Medallist competitions and some in ProAm (see below). Contact me for more information.
Types of competition in the UK
There are many different types of dance competition in the UK:
The National League run mostly on Sundays organised by members of the Dance Promoters Association. These are open competitions where couples can turn up and dance. My students have won many County Trophies in these.
There is also a final at the UK Closed competition in Bournemouth for the top 12 couples at each level to decide who wins the National League (which two of my students have done). These are for couples.
Qualifier competitions - for the Champions of Tomorrow and Stars of the Future. Good to do well in these and get noticed by top judges! My students have been Grand Finalists and recorded 2nd and 3rd places.
National competitions - UK Nationals are are open to all British couples.
Medallist competitions - which can be run either by one of the different teaching associations (such as IDTA and ISTD) or by independent promoters organising them for people who have passed Medal Tests in the previous 12 months in any awarding organisation. If you don't have a regular partner, you can enter as a Solo, dancing with a teacher or more experienced student. One of my students won the annual Nationwide IDTA competition.
There are also other competitions, such as SupaDance League, that are organised by particular groups of dance schools, in which competitors dance in teams with a mixture of events.
ProAm competitions
There are increasing numbers of ProAm (a professional dancing with an amateur) and Student-Teacher competitions.
There's a new series organised by ProAm Champions, in addition to some London-based competitions such as the London Gala Ball and Killick Royale. Dancing with my students, we have won over 100 trophies - or I can arrange for a professional partner.
There's something for everyone!
